Headquartered in Seattle, WA USA and founded in 1999, Amnis Corporation has created the ImageStream® Cell Analysis System - a breakthrough technology for high speed imaging and analysis of cells in flow. The company was co-founded by David Basiji, Ph.D. and William E. Ortyn who co-invented the platform and associated technologies for which several patents are held today.
Its flagship product, the ImageStream system, combines the visual power of microscopy and statistical rigor of flow cytometry in a single bench top platform to advance applications in drug discovery, basic biomedical research and diagnostics.
The ImageStream makes it possible to gather detailed quantitative morphologic and fluorescence information from tens of thousands of cells in a single experiment and to use that information to define and analyse cell subpopulations. This new capability, combined with easy to use analysis software greatly improves traditional flow cytometric applications and broadens the scope of flow analysis. The system enables advanced applications in apoptosis, nuclear translocation of transcription factors such as NFkB, receptor capping, co-localization of cell surface markers and intracellular molecules, sub-cellular compartmentalization, morphologic and phenotypic cell classifications, cell cycle, mitosis and many more.
