PippinHT incorporates the company's highly regarded sizing technology and increases throughput to 24 samples per run, compared to a maximum of five with Pippin Prep or BluePippin.
The instrument offers an efficient, automated solution for scientists running busy sequencing labs, core facilities, and other laboratories producing large-scale sequencing data.
Key Downstream Technologies: Whole genome sequencing & miRNA library isolation
The BluePippin has the DNA capabilities of the Pippin Prep, plus the extra benefit of pulsed-field electrophoresis for resolving and collecting high molecular weight DNA. For long-range genomic applications, high-pass filtering allows users to collect all fragments above a size threshold set by the user.
Target sizes or ranges of sizes are entered in software, and fractions are collected in buffer. Up to 5 samples/gel cassette may be run, with no possibility of cross contamination.
Benefits of the BluePippin System:
Key Downstream Technologies: Mate-pair sequencing, Single molecule sequencing, Bar-coded linked reads
Short Read NGS Library Construction – For Inserts from 100bp to 1.5kb
The Pippin Prep facilitates library construction for the most popular NGS platforms, and is recommended by Illumina and Ion Torrent for certain workflows. The platform features the ability to collect narrow and even fragment distributions, as well as the flexibility to collect wide ranges of fragments with minimal effort. Target sizes or ranges of sizes are entered in software, and fractions are collected in buffer. Up to 5 samples per gel cassette may be run, with no possibility of cross contamination. Benefits of the Pippin Prep System:
Key Downstream Technologies: Paired-end sequencing, emPCR, RNA-seq, ChIP-seq
Pippin's disposable gel cassettes are precast with agarose. DNA sizing is determined by the detection of markers in a dedicated lane or internally in the sample lane and using those to select and collect the desired fragments based on user-input values.
Each sample lane is physically separate to eliminate the possibility of sample cross-contamination and features a branched configuration with three electrodes. DNA is separated along a gel column until the programmed fragment range reaches the branch point. The instrument then switches the active electrode to divert DNA into a membrane-bound buffer chamber. When the size range has been collected, the active electrode is switched back to the separation channel. The desired sample can be removed with a standard pipette.
DNA sizing is available with the Pippin Prep (for fragments from 100 bp to 1.5 Kb) and with the BluePippin (a pulsed-field version for fragments from 100 bp to 50 Kb).

The fully automated SageELF (for Electrophoretic Lateral Fractionator) can be used to select DNA or proteins. It features a cassette system designed to fractionate a whole protein or DNA sample simultaneously into 12 contiguous size fractions.
For proteomics users, SageELF delivers 12 size fractions in SDS buffer ready for analysis or identification on a mass spectrometer.
For scientists working with DNA, the generation of 12 contiguous fractions maximizes the utility of precious samples and can be used to build multiple libraries of different insert sizes for both short-read sequencers and long-range technologies that can assess structural information.
Benefits of the SageELF System:
Key Downstream Technologies: Proteomics, Mass Spec, Mate-pair sequencing, Splice variant detection

Sage Science is pleased to introduce the new Pippin Pulse electrophoresis power supply for analytical gels. They've taken the pulsed-field power supply out of the BluePippin instrument to provide researchers an affordable tool to resolve DNA out to 100 kb and beyond. The Pippin Pulse features a simple software interface to provide users full flexibility to develop their own field-inversion protocols. The operating range is 25-175V , and up to 200 mA . The Pippin Pulse includes the power supply, cables, software (for PC) for programming, and user manual.
The HLS2 system provides a new approach to DNA extraction. Users load cells suspensions or cell nuclei on Sage Science gel cassettes to perform lysis under electrophoretic conditions. This removes degraded and solubilized proteins but leaves intact DNA behind, bound in agarose. A cleavase is then used to carefully fragment the DNA into electrophoretically-mobile sizes. Automated DNA size selection collects the DNA in 6 size bins. Learn more about the technology.
Targeted Purification with CRISPR/Cas9: CATCH*
CRISPR/Cas9 can be used to design targeted purification of large genomic regions or genes. This in vitro application with Cas9, termed CATCH, can enhance study of structural variation and provide valuable phasing information.
